Hi Nicolas, can you present yourself and explain us why you wanted to do your EVS in the Youth Center in Bulgaria ?
Ok, so, I am french, I am 26, I live in France near Orleans, I like sport and in particular football (soccer). I have heard about EVS through an organizer in a youth center, and I remember that she had made « advertising » of EVS. She told that I will like EVS a lot and that i twas easy to find a project in relation with what I like. I have looked and try the adventure. I did not choose the country but the project, wich led me in Bulgaria. And I don’t regret it. I have worked in orphanages and in a house for disabilities children and teenagers via the project « Big Brother Big Sister ».I was involved in training volley ball in a highschool, organized training session of soccer (football) in differents schools… And free time also !
What report can you do after this year in Bulgaria ?
My project was to work with children (in general) to do sport with them. I can say that i twas a positive experience. I have met a lot of people, have had friends, plaid soccer (football) in a club and have had a good life as in France.
What were your difficulties during the year ?
Of course there was difficulties… Every volunteers has his own experience and his own story. At first i twas not easy. I arrived and stayed alone during 2 months. Despite some really kind people, relationship and lack of communication is sometimes hard to support. When you undergo a lot of days whithout understand or just a little, whithout be able to participate in conversations, it is « awful ». Associate to this, to be far of your family, your friends who you want to be with…
But the culture is quite easy to accept despite a lot of differences, for exemple foods. The more difficult was the lack of communication. But i twas a really great experience and it goes very fast !
Thank you Nicolas, good luck and see you !
